Bahco Carbide – Maximum service life and uncompromising cutting quality
A professional blade for those who demand the very best in cutting quality, productivity and long service life. Our carbide blades are fitted with carbide-tipped teeth that retain their sharpness for considerably longer than traditional bi-metal blades. The result is high capacity, smooth cutting and minimal maintenance.
Both TCW (Unset teeth) and TSW (Set teeth) are based on the same high-quality carbide technology, but are optimised for different applications. The TCW has been developed to provide an exceptionally smooth cut surface and high precision, whilst the TSW combines the long service life of carbide with a traditional tooth geometry that many users will recognise from standard or bi-metal blades.
Important: Only remove the tooth guard once the blade has been fitted to the band saw. This reduces the risk of both personal injury and damage to the tooth tips.
Specially designed for superior cutting
Our carbide blades are carefully selected with finely ground tooth tips that deliver straight cuts, high cutting precision and a very long service life. The special carbide grade delivers maximum performance and a lower cost per metre sawn, thanks to fewer blade changes.
Operating time
Extra-long operating time, approximately 40–80 hours, depending on the type of wood, sawing conditions and usage. One operating hour corresponds to the time the blade is actually sawing. At a sawing speed of, for example, 0.1 m/s, this equates to approximately 360 running metres of sawing per operating hour.
A blade used for 60 operating hours can therefore saw around 20,000 running metres of timber, which corresponds to several years’ normal production for many sawmill owners.
Capacity
The blades can handle everything from soft coniferous woods to demanding hardwoods. TCW has been specially developed for applications where the surface finish is crucial and is also suitable for sawing frozen timber. TSW is very well suited for sawing spruce and pine logs.
Features
- Carbide-tipped teeth with extreme wear resistance.
- Finely ground tooth tips for straight and precise cuts.
- Highly durable blade back with high resistance to fatigue and twisting.
- High cutting performance over a long period.
- Lower cost per metre sawn thanks to long service life.
Choose the right carbide blade
TCW (Unset teeth)
- Unset teeth for a maximum surface finish.
- Delivers very straight cuts and reduces the need for reworking.
- Efficient chip removal and reduced sawdust production.
- Particularly well-suited for premium timber, hardwood and applications where the sawn surface is important.
TSW (Set teeth)
- Tooth design based on the same principle as a traditional set bi-metal blade.
- Easy transition for users who have previously sawn with bi-metal blades.
- Very long service life combined with high productivity.
- Particularly suitable for sawing spruce and pine logs.
- Can be resharpened using the correct equipment for carbide-tipped blades. Thanks to the standard tooth pitch, the blade is designed to be resharpened, thereby achieving an even longer overall service life.
Maintenance
Carbide-tipped blades require minimal maintenance thanks to their very long service life and the high wear resistance of the tooth tips.
TSW (Set teeth) can be resharpened using suitable equipment for carbide-tipped blades, such as a belt-grinding robot with a diamond grinding wheel. Thanks to the standard tooth pitch, the blade can be resharpened several times, thereby delivering a very low cost per metre sawn.
TCW (Unset teeth) is optimised for maximum cutting quality and surface finish. Once the blade has reached the end of its service life, most users choose to replace it with a new blade.
